Taking a friend is a very good idea, I'm always keen to buy if I go and see a bike with cash in my pocket, they may see/ask things you won't think of too.

Checking out the seller is high on my list. Where do they live, do they know how a bike should be maintained, is their house clean/tidy? You can usually get a gut feeling straight away.

i always look at a new bike as "i dont want it" find as many faults as possible then use this to haggle the price down, oh yea and it has to have SV on the fairing.
