Hi guys and girls,

How many of you are based around the Hartlepool/Newcastle area as i'll be moving up there asap?!

I'm a northern "southern import". Returning to base within a year or so if things go to plan....

I can recommend some very sleazy nights out in Bishop Auckland and the surrounding areas if you're such inclined. Bit of a trek from where you're going though and to be quite frank....probably not worth it!

(apologies in advance if this offends, this is personal experience only)

Moving from Gatwick (literally next to the airport) my best mate is from Hartlepool originally and she's moving back there and asked if I fancied a change of scenery. That and there seems to be more college courses up there for the bike mechanic wannabe!!:D

Yup another Teesside local here. The North East literally has everything within a short distance. Coast, Hills, good roads, good pubs, city life (if you like it), less traffic, cheaper houses. Come and visit before you make the move to see if you like it as itll be a lot different to the rat race. Hartlepool isnt a bad place if you move into the right area. Teesside has some very dodgy areas (some in Boro/Stockton/Hartlepool) but has a lot of decent areas too. If you're going further north, you have Sunderland/Newcastle. Personally I wouldnt touch Sunderland but I work there and see the bad sides of it. The town is small (smaller than Middlesbrough) and there generally isnt a lot to do, not many nice places to go. They have a massive chip on their shoulders over Newcastle getting loads of investment.

Hi Sammy, I live on the southern edge of Teesside, and work at Wilton on one of the chemical plants. Personally I think it's a great area, easy access to the moors and dales for biking, mountainbiking, running etc. Good surf down at Saltburn, near to big cities (Newcastle/Leeds/York) and some amusing nights out if you know where to look. Give us a shout when you get up here and we'll show you some of the roads.

I'm just outside Darlington.

Most of the good routes are heading inland from the coast over to the pennines.

I'm not from round 'ere originally either - seems to be a bit of a common theme about the North east .orgers, apart from ROBCHESTER everyone I've met seems to be from somewhere else and found themselves here.
