Thanks Ian for introducing mud, cow poo and road flooding to my baby, and for bumping her.

You're welcome.

As a side note is it right that pointy SVs can't be bumped until iver 20mph cos of a special anti bump thingy?

P.S. What gear did you do it in Ian and is it a simple case of dump the clutch and twist the gas?

Nope I have had bump started my bike before, I have had 2 PSCO (take that how you want) pushing me across the yard to get the bike started! Then I rode home, after thanking them! I was in second when I bumped my bike.

I've not heard of that, but, as with all FI bikes, if the battery is reeeaally properly flat it can be impossible to start by pushing as there may not be enough battery power to run the FI system. Specifically you need enough to pressurise the fuel, if the pump spins up, (audible on most bikes - the whining sound heard when turning the key of your pointy SV), then it will very likely go if you push.

Stand on the pegs, click second* and at the moment you drop the clutch bump your bum hard on the seat so the rear wheel doesn't just slide across the floor. Your bike was easy to start as it was just recently run.

*Once up to speed preferably, especially if the engine is cold - the clutch drag with cold oil can make it very difficult to get enough speed up.

I was wondering, how you stop the back end from going, that was main concern when I dumped the culth to get the bike started. Thats really good know should I ever to bump my bike again.
