My 2p's worth, get something like an old bandit or sv (probly around?1000) and run that for your commute and keep the trumpet fresh and in good nick for the weekends/better weather

Why would these be any better for what he wants than a GS :???:

I would keep the Hornet - dont get the Trumpet - you will only sell it at the end of summer anyway...? It certainly wont ride through winter without taking a more than average beating and you'll be getting frustrated watching & paying for something thats not going to be used over this period. Hardly worth the effort or depreciation and fun of riding the GS?

it doesn't arrive until the end of the summer. Depreciation may not be very steep with such a waiting list.

Hmm. Why can't life be simple!

I could buy a new 57 plate Hornet with 0 miles (old shape not yukky new one) for ?4000. Although I really fancy the Trupmet. I guess the sensible thing would be to leave the Trumpet purchase until next year and keep using the Hornet as it is. That being said it will be so difficult to say no when the Trumpet arrives. I won't have to wait 6 months apparently as one guy has cancelled his Triple 675 order and opted for a Speed Triple. My Triple should be ready by April/May...........oh what to do!!!

It would be unhelpful here to extol the virtues of the Speed Triple, right? ;)

I know, I know, different bike, bigger etc etc and it definitely wouldn't win in the finance argument. Still, awesome and must surely join the Dan tick sheet of bikes owned at some point!

never liked the look of the back end. That said I've never ridden one either.

Don't worry about the back end. It spends a fair amount of time facing the floor.

I know someone who took a huge hit in depreciation on his months old Speed triple to get an '08 FireBlade.

If you're getting the Street triple early then great! you can have it for your 'life of a bike' (3 months) then sell for a profit if you like.
How's the discount going?

Same with any vehicle if you chop it after a few months, I guess. AFAIK they hold value fairly well. Couple of year old models were still too expensive for my liking anyway, hence ending up with the zed.

Anyway, I think money is not the issue in Speed Triple ownership...all about that grunt and noise! Bit like Harleys but for us Brits!
