That's right. And yeah no more spring, bu the line pressure is enough to return it, especially with the bearing in the lever.

On the new rearset you have a smaller hole just in front of that silver bolt in your picture. Thats probably for the spring. It will need a spring or it wont return to normal position.

....or, there seems to be a slight indentation in the middle of that silver bolt itself, maybe they intend for the spring to hook around that.

i'm thinking Che might be right, based on the angle of the sets and the current springs location i'd say that if the spring were attached it would cause the lever to push down instead of lift up.

I'm not so sure about that, lookign at the lever assembly in post #13 the hole looks perfectly positioned for a spring to pull vertically downwards (I incorrectly said upwards....doh)

I would always expect for a spring to be there to return the lever, you cant rely on fluid pressure alone. The fluid is not exerting any pressure to fully return the lever, only part way.

Correct - I've edited that post, but the extra hole (same size actually) is just to ensure you can align the master cylinder and/or change leverage ratio. I used the outboard hole.

It would pull upwards but on the wrong end as Drag noted -it would be applying the brake instead of returning the lever to home. Line pressure alone does the trick -with the bearing in the lever there's very little resistance. There no return spring on your front master cylinder right?

Yeah I made a typo, edited at the same time you were replying.

I cant see it causing a major problem without a spring but thats the reason the stock lever has one. Front brakes are different as there is no lever acting downwards, other thing to watch out for with no spring potentially is the front of the lever touching the ground when fully leaned over.

Good point actually, worst case i'll bodge up some sort of crazy looking bracket, but i doubt i'll need it, prob wont get to do the work on it now till monday anyway, have to go see about a rejetting tomorrow :D

You chaps have been a huge help, and as always if anybody reads this in the future, these gbmoto sets are quite nice !! and a decent price also

I have Diamond race rearsets on mine, very similar to yours. I'll take some snaps of the spring arrangement when i get home for you.

I agree 100%. I bought mine mostly for the bling, a bit for the adjustable position -but was pleasantly suprised how much better the shift action was. The price is a bargain for what you get -far cheaper than any other adjustable sets I could find and quite nicely made.

The only thing i would add is it's shame there black and not silver, but maybe i'll get the fame powercoated at some stage ...
