I would always expect for a spring to be there to return the lever, you cant rely on fluid pressure alone. The fluid is not exerting any pressure to fully return the lever, only part way. |

I cant see it causing a major problem without a spring but thats the reason the stock lever has one. Front brakes are different as there is no lever acting downwards, other thing to watch out for with no spring potentially is the front of the lever touching the ground when fully leaned over. |

I have Diamond race rearsets on mine, very similar to yours. I'll take some snaps of the spring arrangement when i get home for you.
