#1 I was cycling in the cycle lane ... admittedly the 'wrong side' of the road i.e. going against the traffic in the cycle lane on the RHS of the road ... I can't really see what difference that makes to the oncoming traffic as they shouldn't be in the cycle lane anyway ... and it actually means I can keep a better eye on the traffic rather than just getting clouted up the rear!!

#2 The oncoming pedestrians (row of about 5 yoofs) saw me coming towards them on the path (it was one of those shared footpaths and cycle thingys) as tehy were in a mob, they were taking up the whole path, but they refused to move out of the way to let me nicely through - so I stood up on the peddles and cycled up to 'ramming speed' 8) ... I narrowly avoided 'collecting' one of the little sh1ts as I torpedoed my way through ...

#3 I was trying to cross a busy road, so I crossed the oncoming lane in a gap ... then had to sit/cycle in the middle bit for a bit to get up to filtering in speed of the other lane ... the oncoming car called me a t*** ...

#4 Whilst cycling the wrong way up a cycle lane I was faced with an oncoming bike ... as the road was clear at that point, I pulled off the cycle lane onto the road to let the bike going the right way continue on his path ... evidently that still qualifies me as a w***er in Portsmoof!! :D

As I said, not like I was being a saint, but no real need for anyone to get sh1tty with me!!

I have to say mate, although I also do some silly / risky things on my pushbike at times, in the case of number 1, if I was one of the people driving a car towards you, I'd have probably called you a wan*er too!

In the case of number 2, it was reported only a couple of weeks ago that a girl died after a cyclist who refused to move out of the way on a pavement hit her on the way past :???: As much as I'd hate to get out of the way of a scrote on an actual cycle lane, you really don't want a death on your conscience!

Number 3, no probs there O:)

Number 4, see answer to number 1! :smt019

I would say that the abuse you received was at least partly your fault ;)

You should get out in to the country or on some trails where there's no civilisation to hassle you!

But the cycle lane is technically another element of the road ... regardless of if I am in there going towards or away, inside out or upside down surely it doesn't really matter (to cars)??

Also why is it more dangerous for me to be in the cycle lane in the wrong direction??? I think it is safer ... one always walks on the wrong side of the road (if there is no footpath). By the same logic, it actually makes more sense to me to do it in this manner on my pushbike ...

After all the comments lately about people stereotyping cyclists you really aren't doing yourself any favours are you. Stupid, dangerous and deliberately antagonising.... I'd have stuck my arm out and clotheslined you off the f**king thing.

Thats me finished on this subject.

The yoofs aside (I admit I lost my cool there - little fecks! :( ), why was any of the other 3 instances stupid, dangerous and deliberately antagonising??

Note: Read my last post about walking in the direction of traffic.

Because being a pedestrian is different from being a cyclist in LAW
