Re: SV650 Centre Stand

The centre stand serves no real purpose. It seriously reduces your gorund clearence and is fuggin ugly and weighs a lot. If i was anyone, then i would get the NWS stand (Like and abba, but better, no need for fitting kit)

yes it does weigh a ton, as I found out when I posted the damn thing off.
What is this NWS stand you speak of.IS it a universal job like the abba? Was thinking of getting an abba for us, but we got so many different bikes it may turn expensive for the diferent fittings...and I bet they don't do one for the Raptor:(

Re: SV650 Centre Stand

so glad this thread popped up as i was going to buy a centre stand today. i live in a flat with underground parking so a paddock stand or similar would have to be carried down with me everytime i wanted to do chain etc then taken back up when finished before riding off. i know that sounds lazy but it does get tedious going up and down all the time.

how heavy is it? and does it actually affect ground clearance that much? have found other companies who make them for the sv and they say that there is next to no ground clearance difference but its is alot more wonga then a stand. is anyone on the forum have one fitted who can give a real life expereince of having one?

I use front & rear paddock stands, however NWS looks good

http://www.n-w-s.com/stands/

I should add that I always have trouble using the front paddock stand, the fork bottoms never seem to be supported properely by the under fork pegs.

The NWS stand is like an abba stand except uses a pair of spikes which you locate into any convenient spot on the side of the bike. Universal fit without buying kits.

The Swingarm pivot bolt is a good spot on the SV.

Its a little big for the spike on one side , but an old socket put in to reduce the diameter (14mm I think) works nicely.

Oh yeah as for actual subject I wouldn't bother with a centrestand. It'll hurt when it digs into floor and spits you off.

For less money you could also have a scottoiler, which will actually do your chain some good.

i think an abba stand or NWS will be purchased today instead. thanks for you help. looked at another centre stand companie and it seemed good quality but at £130 its a bit too steep. plus asthetically its not so good.

after looking at both i am gonna order an Abba one (little bit cheaper and the nice little 'how to video' sold it to me). thanks

Micron and Akrapovic on the Curvy's I believe going by the layout of the pipework.

buy a specific kit for the SV & a special kit which supports the bike, but allows the swinging arm to be removed.

This is the other bit I like about the NWS stand, it will support the bike from the footrest hanger bolts or any symmetrical allen/hollow section of a bike.

If you change your bike you only need to buy a different fitting kit, not a new stand.

Where as the NWS need no other fitting kit.

It's a lot more secure than a paddock stand (mine SV has toppled off it's paddock stand twice

How do people manage to do this????

But the left hand side arm is adjustable, it slides in an out and allows the spike to fit snuggly. Never had any issues which you stated above on SV, or nay bike.
