file off the tabs, put some tape on the bars - Renthal Streetfighters fit straight on, feel loads better and look loads better. You need to cut about 1" off the ends and get some smaller bar ends too. You can get colour to match the bike too :D

Well I drilled mine properly and they were bang on , measure twice cut once is the Moral here . I didn`t want to remove locating tabs etc as when the bike is sold the clipons will be going back on and the bike will be totally standard then with no missing bits .

You can't see the fact that the lugs have been cut off.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but its kind of relavent.

I fancy trying some new clip ons that are slightly higher because of my short arms, but I dont want to pay however much they are for aftermarket.

Does anyone know of any OE ones from other bikes that are the same fitment but raised slightly?

Drilling holes in the bars and creating stress raisers would worry me more ! ;)

Indeed. Though my OEM one's bent closer to the center, so the hole can't raise the stress by that much.

Nope they wont break around the holes as there is more metal around the bar , I think it would have to be a hole of about 1/5th of the tubes diameter for it to be stress point , can`t quite recall what it is so a 3mm hole is fine , if you got at it with a 15mm drill then yer in trouble . You have holes in your clip ons as well for these locating pins , and most manufacturers will do this . Renthal even state you can drill their bars within reason ........... That`s one fear slightly quashed if anyone has any doubts HTH :D

Not a problem, the hole you would drill is small and the handlebar tub is circular so it is structurally strong anyway.

Still think it's easier to file off the pegs, that way you can rotate the switches with the bars so you get the ideal position - Knowing me, I'd drill the hole and it would be in the wrong bloody place anyway ...
