I've found somewhere who rents bikes, a CBR600RR for £75 a day with £500 deposit looks the best deal so far. Think i'll book that up if I don't find any better.

I am quite sure I will have two working motorcycles by then. I would lend you one.

How's insurance work?

(Chances are both mine'll be running too)

So long as you have the bike insured to be on the road, if he has CIHAGM insurance (aka Can I Have A Go Mate, TPO on bikes not belonging to the policyholder) it'll be fine.

Do people really take this insurance? Is it expensive?

I will contact my insurance and see what the cost is for having a named rider added for one day.

You've probably got it? - My policy let's me ride other people's (insured) bikes (third party only) - be in the small print somewhere.

but Nick doesn't have a bike policy - hence unlikely his car policy will cover him (although strangely mine with the NFU did cover me for bikes)

Yes I have. But as Phil says, Nick does not have a motorcycle. I would of thought getting insurance purely to 'joy ride' other peoples bikes would be seriously expensive.

I have added people to car policies on a per day basis before for around £10 or £15. I can't see why it should be any different for bikes.

FOT sounds fine to me. I like the idea of being more adventurous and making a weekend of it, but maybe we could do that on another weekend?

I think it would be ideal if we can make this event so that it is easy for as many people to come as possible so the FOT works well for this purpose.
