If i had the choice, id just get the SM. When were you planning to use it offroad?

i think i would do more off roading than errrrrr roading.

i have the blade for the road, and im thinking of selling the trials bike, and i have always had some sort of off road bike............. im not even sure if i would use the SM wheels

I have no idea what the 'roads' are like in wales, and the offroad tracks where you would ride. But im assuming it will not be public tracks? If this is the case then why get a road legal bike and pay the tax + insurance for it.

The 'E' is the enduro model and is aimed at the race market. Suzuki have lost interest in this model as they have newer faster models to push for racing. You get better engine, plastic (lighter) subframe etc. The bike is NOT road legal, (for instance no rear light or brake light) so cannot be used on green lanes although spend some money and you make it road legal. Most are not registered for the road (even from new) and to get one registered you need get SVA for it.

The 'S' model is the road legal off-road machine that is intended for green laning. It has type approval and so can be registered to the road with no hasssle. It comes with indicators, mirrors, big number plate and all that jazz. It is still capable off-road as has same suspension as the 'E' model above. It also has an electric start, which is nice.

The SM is the out the box supermoto model. It had USD forks, road wheels / tyres, bigger more powerful front brake to take advantage of the extra grip etc, but apart from these is essentially the same as the 'S' model.

No it is not, you really need to research this a little more. The 'E' has no indies, no mirrors, no rear lights and no type approval.

I looked into getting one rather than the SV a while ago and i thought there were only two types...

As for wheels, there has been some more misinformation.....

You can get 17" supermoto type wheels to fit directly onto the 'S' or 'E' models, complete with the right size / offset brake rotors. Look up Talon or similar on fleabay, they go for £300 to £500 depending on condition. One of the downsides to going this route is your speedo reads high as the rolling circumference of this set up is lower than standard.

An alternative to full on SM wheels is to fit road biased tyres to the standard DRZ wheels - I'm gonna do this for exploring surfaced lanes around my area, a sort of All Terrain tyre (Avon Distanzia). I am looking out for some spare standard wheels to put my knobblies on, so that I can swap to them easily for green laning. Takes half an hour to swap the wheels over.

Yes there are three versions. The 'E', the 'S' and the 'SM' Both your links look like 'S' versions to me. This is the 'E' currently on sale by Suzuki, note the lack of indicators...

They are hard to tell apart.. but look at the tailpiece, with number plate, rear light and indicator mounts.
