Were you the kind of kid who kicked a ball thr somone window by mistake and then screamed "RUN" too, or go knock on their door and say "sorry mister" and take what was coming? If everyone took responsibility for their actions then the world would be a far better place. No claims bonuses etc were sent by the devil to make us all evil, nasty creatures with no regard to others imho ;) |

I never played with footballs, my bikes been knocked over and I've had to foot the bill my self. The way I see it I had to then so can every one else. With out a NCB then I would walk every where, with out it I cant afford to get insured on anything, I'll do everything I can to keep mine. True the world would be a better place i every one took responsibility for there actions but they don't. I'm not going to be an exception to that especially when its going to cost me to be an exception. |

Ah but you forget one magical rule...Karma...or if you prefer, what goes around comes around.
I genuinely believe in that mate, not just having a pop at you. Some good advice if you've suffered having your bike knocked over, i have too. I park on pavements as much as i can. Last resort is the street between cars. Naturaly i try and find the biggest space between cars and when i'm off the bike i take a pic from each side of the bike showing the cars reg no and model/make in the pic. That way if i return to bike and its on the floor and only one of the cars has gone i have their details. Much better than to return and kick yourself cos you cant remember what was paked there, eh? |

Its not about ducking and diving and beating the system, its about taking responsibility for your actions. A guy close to me ran over a 2 year old kid on a pavement/cycle lane only the other week riding his pedal bike. He waved, said "She'll be alright" and then buggered off. That little girl had suffered 2 broken bones as a result and is stuck in a wheel chair. |

Example, guy was pushing his car once cos it was broke down. Wife in car too. Not one car driver behind stopped to help him push. I jumped off bike a little further up and went to help the guy. He was so suprised and so thankful. I rode off feeling a lot better about myself. Did i win the lottery that week? No. Is that how Karma works? Who knows. But i know the feeling of doing right by someone was enough to make me feel good. And sometimes thats all i need. |
