One guy used to go thieving in Go Outdoors in Wigan so often without confrontation, he just walked in, grabbed some gear and runs for it! Unlucky for him I was there one day eh? As for the mad shopping, I'm going nowhere near a supermarket. The car-park at the Sainsburys was rammed full and queues of cars were blocking the roundabout outside. Pete ;) |

I went down to Pets at Home this afternoon because I'd run out of dog food and the cats was running low.....I've never seen it so busy in there :smt101
I thought I'd wandered into Tesco's by mistake! |
Re: Shopping Chaos !! What is wrong with people...
Its worse than christmas shopping!
If they all had sense they'd have done their weekly shop earlier in the week like we did on Tuesday, because of all the scaremongering there was nobody in the supermarket :-) |

We've just bought our normal amounts though. Panic buying is ridiculous, but I suppose if you've got children you worry more about them not getting food than Pete and I would worry about ourselves! |

Re: Shopping Chaos !! What is wrong with people...
Just been to our local Morrisons. It didn't seem any busier than usual and there was no sign of panic buying. Though it's beginning to thaw here, so maybe people aren't so worried about being snowed in with no food.

Re: Shopping Chaos !! What is wrong with people...
Sainsbos here has no proper veggies. No sprouts, no leeks, no parsnips, no swedes. no spuds. All they have is Dutch polytunnel aubergines (what the hell can you do with an aubergine???), Israeli celeriac, and those tasteless Kenyan baby corn rip off things at £1.50/package. I won't buy them as it's such a rip off and they pay the grower didly squat. No wonder they can sell them at '2 for £2!!!' - as they pay the grower about 30p. I guess the grower pays the workers about 10p. What does a good liberal like me do - do I boycott the goods in protest at the exploitation, or do I buy piles of the stuff to try to get the workers a decent wage...
Anyway the staff were saying that there were no carrots etc as the ground is frozen and the crops are covered with snow so the farmers can't harvest them. At least they don't have that problem in Kenya... |
