He means to manually select your network. If you go onto the network selection screen, you should be able to search for all available networks in your area. Select one that ISN'T O2 (So Orange, 3, Vodafone etc.), and let your phone try to connect to it.
Your phone will then switch to emergency calls only, or simply tell you the operation is restricted. Then go back into a manual search and select O2 again. Doing this updates your phone on the network, which is basically synchronizing it with all the computer gadgetry network-side to allow it to route things correctly to your phone. As to the person suggesting just getting a new phone on your insurance...not advisable for something like this, as if anything it would be a warranty fault, and people like me exist to prevent people making dodgy mobile phone claims ;) |
