Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Get on the phone and moan, at everyone about everything.
Insurance prices are meant to be up around 20% (according to MCN so take that as you wish). When I went to insure my new SV, first quote was £1400 FC, I got a TPFT quote for £930. Called up express insurance, said, I'm interested because I've been with you before, but your price of £1400 is too much, I havea quote of £830 FC from bikesure with a £500 excess. They came back with an offer of £885, £150 excess (which is insured for 1 claim per year) keys insured, helmet and leather, unlimited miles, pillion cover etc etc. Morale of the story is - haggle with them! Lots! |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Yep, looks like I'll have to haggle with MCE. I'm resigned to the fact that if I want cheaper insurance then I'll have to stay with them, but only if they reduce my excess to something more reasonable than £500.
Cheers chaps :D |

location is a big factor in insurance as well as age but i think the prices are a bit stupid.

My insurance was 100 euros cheaper this year
I must be getting old. |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
I found bikesure the best for me on the comparrison sites, £300 fully comp with legal and kit cover and £200 excess for my SV, didn't think that was to bad as a 25 year old brand new biker

Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
Bikesure, which I believe are Adrian Flux, were the cheapest by far for me.
£500ish fully comp, 1yrs ncd, 1yr old bike. |
Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
As per the other insurance thread, check the Tesco bike comparison tool.

Re: Insurance (again) - is it getting much more expensive?
UPDATE -> Thanks for all the replies guys. I used the comparison tools to get a decentish quote, then used the results as a bargaining tool with MCE. They sent my renewal quote through as £640 with a £300 excess, but called them up yesterday and they offered me fully comp for £339 with a £250 excess including legal, euro breakdown, protected no claims, third party on other bikes etc.
Think I'll be staying with them then! :D |
