Re: Music while riding
post #18... good sound quality, poor isolation. Maybe I have strange ears

Re: Music while riding
I had some Sony phonotopia ones. They were great for isolation and clarity but they would fall out after about 45mins to an hour. Then while in belgium they broke so i got some seinheisser ones (omx 60 i think) that hook over the top of the ear. They dont ever fall out but the isolation isnt so good. Sound volume and clarity are fine, although i do like my music LOUD. Only problem i find is that after about an hour to hour and half they make my ears ache a bit, but i can live with that.

I personally use (when I do but not often) Bose, got them in NYC as a little treat and they are fantastic.

Re: Music while riding
Only issue I have with "high-end" headphones is that they are expensive to replace when they get damaged through having the cord stretched or whatever extra wear and tear they get from a lid being taken on or off.
Also with the road noise, any sound quality improvements are negated in reality. So a pair of "whatever is cheapest" in the right form factor is what I go for. |

Re: Music while riding
Seems like the right thread to tag this onto the end of....
What Audio playing devices do you guys use? Had an old school ipod - died Know of anything good / not too expensive on the market? |
Re: Music while riding
A sandisk sansa mp3 player ... sounds like some womans hygiene stuff but works ok and uses AAA batteries so you don't have to worry about charging up from a PC in middle of a trip.
Only thing is it does tend to cut out from only a minor crash, I thought solid state stuff was supposed to be 'ard?!? |

I am very disapointed with the Ink'ds sounds terrible (tinny) compared to the cheapest of the cheap old ear phones and as my first pair of truely in ear's with the silicone bits, they're really uncomfortable, even after changing to the smallest tips (not tried with a helmet as I didn't buy them for that) |
Re: Music while riding
Good post this as I tried listening to music the other day actually after years of not doing it (minidisc days  ). Especially as I've got a 9+ hour ride in June into France.
Standard Ipod = Wind wind rasp rasp wind wind  I have some earphones that wrapped around your ears years ago so the actual earpiece stayed in place. But my new lid is quite tight and I think it'll hurt to use them. So I need something small, and wind proof. Reading this I guess YC wasn't happy with the ones he's posted the link to on page 1? Makes life much more fun on long boring motorways :( And cruising speed will be 80-100. |
