flatslides, bump compression, mad cams, head work.

Why not go read up some posts by arctic donkey.

The fact that it appears to be just us 3 on the forum depresses me so I'm going to the pub!

Only if you ride it like a loon, newer machines are far more predicatable with a far more linear power delivery.

Re: More power to SV650?

I greatly enjoy reading the technical threads on here and am interested in power upgrades for my gentle and dainty 650, but for me that will be a very simple upgrade for my K3. Next April, my restriction is coming off!

I have looked at the Big bore kits with JHS racing in Bristol and was greatly impressed by the work they have done.

I have also had a quick look at Holeshot Racing, they seem to have some toys ready to go for the SV. Look here.

A quick google brings up these guys too, looks like they have big bore kits and other performance parts, but it was the spoked wheels that shone out for me. I don't know if they are a performance enhancer, but they look beautiful to me. Wire spoked wheels on my Sylvie would be awesome, if a bit of a swine to clean.

hmm power .... to be honest unless you have sorted the suspension then theres no point ****ing round with the engine, you will need about £1k id say to get started on the suspension and few other bits unless use a bargain hunter like me

bigest change i felt was the cams, second was the pistons(and higher comp), and 3rd was the velocity stacks the other bits don't do much if any thing to be honest though iv only spent about £360 on the engine that includes 4 buss pistons, head gasket, cams,v stacks, other bits and bobs like honing 99ron fuel makes a nice difference now

and sold the other 2 pistons for £50

spent about £500+ on suspension

and just be prepared for your bike looking like this for weeks lol

How much did you bump comp by, did you dyno it?

I was quoted somewhere in the region of £2,500 to go to a reliable 85/90 bhp at the rear wheel from Steve Jordan who is considered one of the leading experts around SV's. I think you have to be fairly committed to remaining faithful to the SV to spend that kind of money on it, if you just want a more powerful road bike then your money would be better spent elsewhere.

FASTER = suspension/brakes/tyres before anything else I'd say. Taking stuff off your bike you don't need or using a light weight subframe etc etc will be cheap. I know that's not what you asked but I'm skint
