I wouldn't worry, I did my first track day on Monday at Snetterton and I think I held my own on the SV. Only really struggled on the straights against the more powerful bikes. Just take it easy and build on it. I'm already thinking of doing one next month!

It's times like this you wish you were at a video'd event to replay the situation! Much damage? Take it you were able to ride home! That was my biggest fear when doing a track day.

oh ok 60secs is a good track day time. What corner and what tyres/pressures? Have you had any suspension set up at all?

It has put me off at all. It happened at clear ways and I think my rear was bout 32 psi front at 30.

Funny how there was the 4 of us at Mallory in July, I highsided that day. Jo did the same a few weeks later. Nick has done this.

I wouldn't call those videos highsides, more just loss of traction (the pacific raceways one kind of the same principle, the brand new gixxer one definately not), a classic highside is where the rear tyre looses grip and the bike starts to drop into a lowside, but then the rear tyre regrips, violently flipping the bike back into an upright position, launching the rider upwards into the air.

But in answer to the OP, yes, you can highside a bicycle if the rear tyre loose traction for some reason. When too much power causes a highside, it's just because the power has overwhelmed the rear tyre and caused that loss of traction.

Shame about the damage to your bike, however extensive it may be, but let's just hope it's mostly cosmetic

Semantics, but;

I wouldn't say it's only a highside if the rider gets chucked over the top, I'd say it's a highside if the bike regains grip and flicks itself over the other way.

Also you can highside them on the brakes too, it's a common crash for newbies who stamp on the rear brake when a car pulls out.
