I'll bear those points in mind next time I get on the bike, my gloves are fine so it must be my lack of core fitness!! But that doesn't surprise me... Who can turn down a decent pie!!!

I had this for quite a while & didn't feel it at the weekend despite being out for 5 hours. The only thing i'd changed is I finally got round to tightening up one of the bar ends that i'd knocked a while ago. Hadn't even occured to me till I read your post but might be worth checking.

Check the lever adjustment too, that's very common problem.

After passing my test and getting the sv650, coming from a 125 trail bike it was fairly uncomfortable but now I've had it 4 mnoths and done 7,500 miles on it I can ride it all day long without so much as a wrist ache.

I've heard some people using stomp grip to lock into place which can take the weight off your wrists, Will be my next purchase because I find it impossible to lock my knee's into the tank lol.

I got back on the bike today for the first time in a few weeks, and I was consciously thinking about taking the pressure off my wrists and on a 30 minute ride which I have done many times now.. No pins and needles..
So thanks folks..

On my way home though it did raise its head again, but there was a reason for it... Clinging on and sh**ting myself due to the bloody cross winds on the M1!

Cheers again.

I was used to a more cruising style position which put more stress on the tail bone and lower back. I find myself riding for longer periods of time on the SV. That's not to say my butt doesn't get sore from time to time. My friend told me to sit really close to the tank and squeeze the tank with my thighs. It will take the weight off your wrists and neck so you can sit more upright. Took some getting used to but when you are in pain on a long ride you remember these tips and after a while it is second nature. Hope that helps.

I end up with a painfully numb bum if I sit too far forwards - and then I get used to sitting like that so when I move backwards near the step it doesn't feel "right". :S

A tip I read somwhere recently is that you should be able to flap your elbows in a sort-of chicken impersination, if not then you are too tense and will get pains... It works for me.

I also heard of a trick to check how tense you are on the bike by trying to stick your tongue between your teeth :smt019 It sounds funny but it's usually a good reference as you're approaching the limits of your comfort zone.
