Good looking for a factory custom, got plenty of torque for the type, be warned though, they don't corner to good and front brake is naff, rear is much more effective, took one on an extended road test, killed the pegs and ground the lower frame rails and locked the front a stupid amount all this at a very pedestrian rate of not many knots.

Not my cup of tea but if that's what you like then go for it

All depends on how desperate the dealer is to shift the cruiser because they are difficult to sell, how much the cruiser owes them, how long they've had it in stock and whether they've paid Honda for it and a multitude of other factors. In the past I've given way over book just to shift a bike that's been hanging around too long, knowing I'll be able to either break even or make a very small profit on the px - sometimes I'll even take the risk of losing a small amount on the px just to shift the bike that's been in stock for too long. Sometimes it all depends on whether I'd rather have the new bike or the px in stock - when it comes to cruisers I'd rather have a showroom full of 2002 SV650s as you know you can sell them to a greater section of the biking public. Suttons may even already have a buyer lined up for the SV. I know we have a list of people waiting for a call for the right bike to suit them and their budget - at least three people I know of are looking for a good SV up to £2000, but I won't buy them in, I'll wait for a px to come in. Good quality used bikes are in short supply, yet the market for them is growing due to the increases in new bike prices, so you can expect to get a decent px price on most sellable bikes at the moment. By sellable I mean Japanese mainstream models - no Italian crap, no cruisers, no BMWs, no Harleys and definitely no KTMs. |

KTMs are nickable, not sellable

They tend to fall over into corners, and ground clearance is crap, but you get used to the limitations. None of this really matters, because it's not about speed - if you're going too fast no-one can see you. :D It wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd make room for an old school chopper in my lottery winners garage. Hope you enjoy it myfirstsv. Everyone should have their dream bike. |
