On a slightly different note, how about some of the classic series lije Space 1999, Buck Rogers in the 21st Century or the original Battlestar Gallactica.

Should be available on DVD I'm sure.

Babylon 5, Space:Above & Beyond, or go way, way back and look at Flash Gordon or the original Buck Rogers complete with spaceships on string and cliffhanger endings every time
