Re: Amateur + Tools + Bike =
Finally had a couple of hours free this afternoon so got the toolkit out again. I started taking the side fairings off so I could get at the screen and discovered
http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...e/DSCF0440.jpg yup, that's right http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...e/DSCF0439.jpg the front subframe is almost as rusty as the back was. http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...e/DSCF0438.jpg Everything off, discovering that the front fairing had a few less fixings than Suzuki fit in the factory. Bought some black fittings for the screen (sorry Bib, Probolt) so had enough spare for later. Sorted the rust, slapped on the hammerite, fitted the screen to the centre fairing, put it all back together again. Took it apart again so I could fit the instrument surround which I'd forgotten (doh!) and it's all sorted. Pics of the finished job once the sun comes out. |

Re: Amateur + Tools + Bike =
I need to do this again to mine. I may start in the next couple of weeks. I have neglected Doris over the past 18 months on little or no use. She sits out there under her Stormex cover bless her. I need to get the wheels redone(Powder coat has chipped and flaked off in places), some of the paintwork needs touching up/sortingout/wrapping! some of the engine casings need coating and im sure my subframe is as bad as that again. Then again, shes done the mile and rode trough several winters, so i cant complain. She does start first time though every time.

Re: Amateur + Tools + Bike =
Good work, mine must be getting fairly bad after 3 years of all weather use and living outside. Should still have a 5l tin of hammerite somewhere so it will be fettled when the sun is out :-).
