I wasn't going that quick, though, you were just dawdling. I only had 40 odd miles to home, and needed another cup of tea. |

I agree there are times when using one is stupid just like when wearing sunglasses or in fact having tinted windows on your car, I will carry a clear visor with me as swapping visors in only slightly more hassle than taking of my glasses. Also Signed |
job done.
not gonna make any difference tho im afraid. |
Done-didily-done!

What you lot forget is that there is a small minority of riders who spoil it for the majority. These are the ones that will go out without a claer visor then ride home in the dusk/night whilst wearing them. Its those people that stop the tints become law!
Also, there was recently a government white paper on the subject i believe. After extensive testing, it was proved that there was no saftey improvement in wearing a tinted visor. I still go with sunglasses thank you very much! |
So just make it legal to wear a dark visor if you've got a clear visor with you

I can't really see the problem. If you cause an accident because you're riding a night with a dark visor then it's obvious you were being dangerous.
The law banning dark visor makes about as much sense as the law on spare wheels. As in you're allowed to drive a car with no spare wheel, but you're not allowed to drive a car with a spare wheel with an illegal tread, incase you're tempted to use it. It's especialy stupid when you can legaly ride a bike with no lights on a daytime MOT. Whats worse being caught at night with?! At least you CAN change your visor. Pre-emptively charging people with crimes is stupid - it's like arresting someone for murder because they own a kitchen knife. Oh, as for the government white paper... would you trust anything the government says?! |
