i know that racing is expensive and i doubt that i could ever afford to take it seriously due to cash flow at the moment, but i am waiting on better job prospects so it could be a possibility in the future provided that i had a track bike i dont think i could be bothered to run a 2 stroke machine due to the increased maintenance cost compared to a 4 stroke, plus it would be a bit of a shock to the system to go from a fairly heavy engine braking machine to one with none at all(as if i get the track bike i would still keep the SV) |
another vote for TLR - even if you have no self control

There are no track days at East Fortune. Being only a part-time circuit the cost for insurance for a 'track' day for anyone with a bike, as compared to a Road Race 'Practice' Day is prohibitive. We can run a Practice Day for £50 a head for solos, but this happened earlier on in the season, and there is no plans to run another one this year. The circuit at East Fortune is run by a small band of volunteers in their spare time, and there just isn't the time - and we believe the market to put on another Practice Day - when you can go to Knockhill - what? at least once a week for track time. We are now into a period where the circuit is being used every 4 weeks for bikes, and what with air shows preventing access, and race meetings on elsewhere, there isn't much time to do what needs done just to keep the circuit going. Take Sunday, work party of 4, and too windy to fix the roofs on the buildings that rained on everybody the week before, or weedkilling. What we did do was cut grass, clean and stock the loos, fix signs, and make a pit signalling area for folk to stand in with their pit boards. And did I mention the neighbour who doesn't like motorbikes? And now seems to have aversion for other forms of use on the circuit. We try our best, but we can't please everyone, any track bookings - ie someone else (ie a promoter) coming in to run a proper track day, proper insurance etc would be considered the same as anyone approaching the Club to hire the circuit. But you are going to need a lot of people to stump up a fair bit of money to do it. So why not go for the cheaper option at Knockhill? Diana |
Now that's a sales job :) But they're quite right, there's obviously barely enough demand for Knockhill looking at the numbr of events they're doing. Shame, it'd be nice to have the variety closer to home.
Cheers Dean. And Diana (is that your weekend alterego?) |
How about (and sorry if this has been mentioned.. but i don't have time to sit and read all the posts yet..) you buy a TL and turn the SV into a track bike.... problem solved!!!
