Cheers for the help guys, i'm picking it up on Monday first thing and i've got it booked in for it's first service on Wednesday afternoon so hopefully i can get this running in malarky over and done with asap.

Blummin heck, it took me around a week to clock up 600 miles under 5K revs. It took so much time and felt weird deliberately putting miles on something.

I already do a lot of miles and i'm not workin for a few days so i'l do that easily.

apparently when an engine has been born.

they wire it up to a dyno - and redline it for an hour constantly - to check that its up to power. . . .

i was shocked when i heard this.

was also confirmed by some friends who recently went to visit the ducati factory in europe.

Ducati do that, certainly, but I don't think all manufacturers do it to quite an extreme, though I have no doubt that an engine has been given a bit of stick before it even goes into a bike.

Thats probably why Ducatis fall apart so often.Why have a running in period if the factory does that before fitting the lump?
