********Theiving ******* Updates*******

Well the transaction from friday afternoon has finally gone through, and the answer to the riddle (What can you get in Romford for £937 at 16:40 on a friday?) is:

Cash, from the Post Office apparently!! £933.24 of cash and £4.50 of cash charge were removed from my account.

The question being, how on earth did they remove that WITHOUT my pin number? (The PIN isn't written down anywhere, hence every so often I forget it and have to get a new one)

Most places can still override the pin, Is the bank going to give you the money back?

This is standard in many European countries... but not in the UK where a poxy 4 digit number will do.

ok much fun

have phoned helpline/branch/debit card dispute line AND debit card fraud line

Cash should be back in my account in 3 working days

New card is definately in post

My branch has given me a temp. overdraft of £1000 to cover rent/bills/et al

Fraud line are sending out delcaration form to be signed stating "not my fault gov"

Fraud line require Incident number (in post from Romford police yesterday) and will chase up payment.

The cash was taken from a Romford post office in the form of "Travel Cash" on friday. And if I recall correctly the current practise on these things, because the vendor didnt check sufficiently, the vendor is libel for the loss, not the bank or me, so one of the post offices in romford is about to be stung for the best part of a grand.

SO, all in all, two conclusions: Lloyds TSB are excellent and worthy of much praise, and the local Post Offices are staffed by fools, that allow random people to withdraw a grand without checking any details.

Now to get a new drivers license and the lost cash/ipod reclaimed.......

Would be interesting to find out what foreign currency would come up with a round number after coverting from £937.
