They do. Can anyone explain to me why they should work better?

I am not getting the physics of the situation. :?

MCN did some comparitive tests some time back and concluded they didn't work any better and bearing in mind the extra cost it just wasn't worth it, unless of course you like the look of them that much.
It's a fashion thing.

That's the main reason my mate bought them.

To some extent I would guess, but they must have something going for them as they are used in racing. They wouldn't use them if there wasn't a performance advantage. IMO.

Carry on.

Yup, in racing the heat dissipation and weight loss is more of an advantage in racing. But even then, not everyone uses wavys. EBC, PFM, AP Racing and Brembo all make non-wavy discs for racing- PFM and AP use sintered, solid discs, and Brembo and EBC make traditional discs. (EBC also make wavys, but they're totally fashion led)

And in high level racing, they're moving away from ferrous discs entirely- carbon fibre and kevlar! (I doubt we'll ever see these on the road, from what I've heard- they take too long to heat up and don't work well when cold)

i'm pretty sure i know of somewhere through work that sells galfer wavey fronts and the specialist pads for about £197 the pair...
i'll check tomorrow and post an update :)
( i know they're about £400 for gsxr's etc, not sure of the usual retail price for sv's)

northwind 16-02-06 07:12 PM

If he could nab me a pair of those galfer fronts for the GSXR front end, at that price, I'd be interested ;)

Lesse... i think it's 97-2002 750, 96-2004 (?) 600, 2000-2002 thou. Basically anything from SRAD and onwards that doesn't have radial calipers. Cheers! (must... ditch... manky... prolites....)

adamfool 17-02-06 07:34 PM

sorry northwind, they're all full price for gsxr discs!!

£194 for the sv galfer discs and pads though.

northwind 17-02-06 07:42 PM

No probs, thanks for trying mate.
