they look good, thinking of doing mine black, what primer and paint did you use?

Rustoleum enamel paints are excellent, there primers however are not.

POR-15 paints are extremely tough but they only sell them in a can, not spray.

For something like forks that have lots of junk hitting them I'd use an epoxy based paint or an acrylic eurothane.

Sorry to bring back a thread from 4 years ago, but...

Quiff, did you manage to polish your forks? How did they turn out and also what method did you use?

Im asking this just because Ive just bought another sv... this time a k3 and the forks are quite pitted. I fancy a little project and this seems a good one. Only problem being, I cant really take them off the bike... Any thoughts? Is it still possible? Just a little harder to do I guess!

Thanks

ill get you some pics stu, the forks were pitted on the curvy so I got one of those chimney sweep looking wire brushes and took all teh paint and crap off. Primer paint just in a spray can from halfords, then I used some PJ1 high temp paint to repaint them. They're a loverly looking satin black almost identical to a k4+ pointy swing arm.

Holy thread resurrection batman.

I'll be amazed if he can remember because:-

1) He has changed his bike twice since then
2) He is 4 years older - he was already bloody old then

I dont think I have a "before" pic but this pic below shows how the bike was when I picked it up. You can only see the back of the forks and tt had seen 2 more winters since that pic was taken, one of which it lived outside so you can imagine the state they were in before I painted them just 2 weeks ago. (I'll take a pic of them painted tomorrow). http://forums.sv650.org/picture.php?...pictureid=2101
