Initially,I thought ZZ was silly doing that, now though,I find it quite funny! I must admit though I'm quite annoyed that the TV companies didn't show ZZ's head fall off like in the video!

He must have been VERY pi**ed off to do that,So Materazzi must have been terribly naughty!

Still,never mind,no harm done......Oh,there is,France lost!

Allegedly he called him a "dirty terrorist".
(His parents are Algerian).
clicky

If he did... then, I would sort of say fine, I understand. Not the best thing to do, but understandable.

What a crock, u mean to tell me that years of fantastic football will be forgotten because of that... i dont think so!

He will be associated with the head butt for a very long time - as its his last act in football. But I doubt it will deminish what people thought of his footballing ability.

I can't believe a pro would do that - I know comments can be tough to take but defenders have done that since football began. I'm be surprised any world class player should fall for that sort of gamesmanship, especially in a World Cup final, in your last game when its 0-0. He should have set his thought to one side until the end of the match, and known Meterazzi (if he said anything contrary at all) was trying to wind him up.

The French people have been voicing their criticism of the incident but that will not affect the biding memory of what his contribution to French football has been. he even came out of international retirement when they were struggling in the qualification stages to help them get to the finals.

Where as Maradona is blindly idolised by Argentina, the French hold Zizou in reverence. They see him as a genius and acknowledge that at times such brilliance can come with a few warts also.

Zizou normally is a most calm and tranquil individual, I have read comments from people as to how he has something of an aura to him when he enters a crowded room.

He is, and was a lot more than that red mist piece of thuggery would have you believe. 8)

What a stupid thing to do whatever he was called, as a professional he should have waited until after the game then nutted him, after all they can't ban him if he's retiring
I think the Italians played the better football during the tournament ( especially in the semi final) and deserved to win.
It was a strange world cup in that no one player especially the big names) shone, for me 3 games will stand out Argentina v Mexico, Holland v Portugal and of course Italy v Germany two for outstanding football and one for comedy value

Well they had an Italian lip reader on ITV news tonight and IIRC they say Materazzi told Zidane he wished an ugly death on his family, then told him to go **** himself. Then Zidane stuck the head in. Zidane's head was turned so it's probs impossible to know what he said. Apparently Zidane's mother is ill so that comment will have cut deep. I don't think professionalism could have stopped anyone from wanting to stick one on Materazzi.

... in the end I think they both got what they deserved
