Yeah, i've been doing some reading and it seems even thoguht its MY video, taken on MY camera, uploaded to MY computer, its not mine, its ITV's...
(there-for, anyone taking any images of any motor racing event is infringing on copyright!!) Complete bo11ox. Its all about politics and "my dads harder than your dad" isn't it.... Basically, i've sent a long email to them saying I can't believe how petty a multi million pound company can be, how it would effect them etc rah rah... I won't win this at all, but im gonna give them grief and my opinion over it first (they cannot get into legal issues over an opinion, and the videos have already been taken off line). I've removed the last video for my own legal safty. You have to cover your back. |
See my other post entitled Copyright
They are not being bullies, just doing what they have to.

They don't HAVE to do anything.
Its politics, pure and simple. |

If they didnt stop you, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on when Sky Sports sent someone in with a camcorder.
They cannot operate one rule for one person and another for corporations. If they let you do it, they have to let anyone do it They are not asking you to wipe your tapes, they are not saying dont film again. What they are saying is dont make your footage public So I am afraid they are in the right Yes its annoying, but with sports being the big money thing it is (after all who would watch ITV on a sunday afternoon if not for the bike racing) its how it has to be. Given the competition between broadcasting companies, I really cannot see someone setting up a home camera and broadcasting it on national/international TV. Hardly a great way to bring in more viewers...
"Sorry, this weeks Donnington MotoGP, brought to you by Sky Sports, via home video........" Hence why this whole thing is so anal, and rediculas. Why cannot they have rules for corporations and individuals. Its not like a singular person is going to start their own TV show and push ITV out is it!!! Corporations are in competition with each other, not the public. I've read the rules and seen that its not me the issue would be with, the responsibilty lies with Youtube as they are the ones hosting (in effect, broadcasting) the video, not me. I've just uploaded it. They are covering their backs, which is fair enough... But the issue of such a big company coming down on an individual.... As said, they haven't exactly got great press atm either... Which makes it even more hysterical.... |

If i was you, id just chill and forget it. |
Were there any signs up at Donnigton warning people about broadcasting any images they took,or even not to film there?Idoubt it.
I find it vaguely alarming that ITV can control your film so extensively yet we as private citizens have virtually no rights over who films us and what they do with it. Don't mind me,it's just my usual Big Brother paranoia kicking in. |
I chose my words very very carefully fella.
The trick is to put your point accross without offending the person reading the email. |
