Well would you believe it.

Shropshire CC 'leaned' on Severn Trent and the offending drain covers have been replaced!!!

Plus they seem to be doing a survey of the other drain etc covers this week.

So - complain!!! Councils will lean on utility providers and get things changed!!!

The worst I've seen are to the West. The end of the dual carriageway link road leading from the Ikea roundabout up towards penarth and Barry is horrific, I've ridden smoother offroad tracks than that (no exaggeration). Similarly, the newly "resurfaced" Barry town centre is something of a driving challenge. Ruts and gullies that steer your bike for you, surfaces that are as smooth as glass, bumps, potholes and brick paving (on the road!) that makes the peds think it's pedestrianised and dive out into your path with even greater regularity.

One of very few roads I will actually avoid due to the road surface. Still, cuts congestion I suppose.

Excellent work sir.
It's nice feeling when you feel like you have done something for everyone.

One trick I saw was when sending warning letters, or letters of complaint is to register the post. So you have proof that they received it.

That can sort of imply that you might mean business with some kind of litigious follow up at some point in time. The headed paper wouldn't hurt either.
