cadwell park, on the mountain. front came up a bit further than on previous laps .. kept coming .. didn't occur to me to come off the gas .. kept coming .. I fell off the back .. bike kept going, scraping the brake light & grabrail along the track at ~50mph, flipped over onto its top (I have an interesting dent & scrape on the *top* of my tank) .. me sliding along the cadwell tarmac on my 4r53 hoping that I wasn't going to catch up with the disintegrating bike in front of me

I got a nice round of applause from the spectators though

On what must only just classify as a 'road'. Try riding a gixer traily style standing on the pegs to save your spuds hitting the tank with clip on bars.

As for my embarrassing moments, I've done them all some of which I feel would be best to remain silent on. However the above reminded me of my first wheelie...

Was on my way home from work when I was 17 riding my TZR. This Land Rover in front was all over the place before refusing to pull away from a green light then crossing over a lane to turn right without indicating. I wasn't sure what he was doing but decided it would be best to get away fast and loud. Clutch in up to the red line rolling forward, I see the space drop the clutch and the front goes to 12 o'clock. Luckily I shut the throttle before I flip it and the front comes down. Now we're into the laws of physics, something about an unstoppable force and an immovable object as I slide into the tank.

I make it to the next side road with tears in my eyes before climbing off the bike and reaching in to retrieve a part of my anatomy from my chest that really shouldn't have been there. I had to spend a good couple of minutes at the side of the road rubbing said parts better, luckily I wasn't arrested as I was quite close to a girls school.

I gently got back on the bike and rode home. This is why I choose not to wheelie.

Mine goes back many, many, years...............to when I was 17. My mate Neil had just got a brand new Kawasaki Z250, and I was dying to have a go on it. Not having a licence, of course I couldn't ride it on the road, but he agreed to let me take it up and down the service road behind his house where the garages were.

Being shorter than a very short thing, my feet didn't reach the ground, so another mate, Ben, said he'd sit on the back in case there was an urgent need for feet down:D

So off I went, up the service road, big smile on my face. Got to the end, turned the bike round with no problem, and started back to where Neil and the rest of my mates were waiting.

Now, it was a lovely, sunny day, really warm. All I was wearing was jeans and a halter neck top that fastened at the back of my neck with a clip. Halfway back to Neil and the others, Ben undid the clip!

I can still remember the next moments so clearly. Neil screamed, and covered his eyes with his hands. Not because my baby feeders were flapping in the wind, but because he was convinced I would panic and bin his pride and joy. :D

I didn't. I just calmly rode back to where the others were waiting, stopped the bike, turned the engine off, got off, did my top back up..................and slapped Ben so hard his ear rang for the rest of the day:D

So while I was totally embarrassed by riding topless, I'm still proud that I managed to keep my cool and not drop Neil's bike;)

So that's mine. Anyone else got one they would like to share?:D

:winner: No one has beaten this! Good on yer Lissa for sharing.

Not going to beat the norks ahoy moment but.....

After riding for 2 weeks (and appointing myself biking god) I went into a corner too fast on my curvy and ended up lay next to the bike in a corn field. Somehow there was no curb or hedge and as I was sliding along I didnt even notice the 3ft drop into the field.
Being a curvy it only scraped the fairing and snapped the brake lever.
The gf who I was convincing to get on the back got home that evening to find me removing corn from behind the fairing. DOH

and the other one,
left my heated grips on at work the other day. (as an electrical engineer, who hasnt bothered wiring them in correctly)

Had a riding day at Cadwell park (long time ago) with some work mates using Cadwells FZR 400RRs and all their kit. Had an FZR 600 at the time so thought it would be easy to adjust. Rode from the pits down the bank to the 'start line' applied brakes, ah - they were just a little better than my own bike,;) locked front end with a loud skid and slid rapidly and firmly forward towards the tank. Everyone looked round as I calmy stepped off the machine (mate held the bike) and curled up neatly on the ground groaning until I got my breath back and calmy got back up jumped on the bike to a modest (well, raptious) round of laughter.

Was burning down through France on the Autoroute on a VFR750 with a full set of hard luggage (Red, colour matched, natch) and pulled in for fuel. Did not really notice the deisel all over the floor - normal for a French forcourt. Went to put bike on center stand, (which required a bit of effort with the luggage) and noticed a pretty blonde getting into her Merc on other side of pump - so I smiled at her like you do.....

Gave the bike a manful heave to put on center stand and my foot slipped off the center stand foot lever! Threw bike over onto the pump island and followed it over. So there I was laying accross my bike I just chucked on the ground, the blonde looked over, smiled back and drove off laughing.

To thier credit, the French drivers who witnessed it never even giggled while helping pick the bike up......

I had a very important meeting to attend yesterday. All timing etc worked out. Got out and my daily checks, oil looks OK. Helmet on, get on bike quick look down at sight glass again(why?) and it look like I couldn't see much so decided to make sure the bike wasn't at an angle when checked earlier.

Off the bike again and was a bit more care making sure bike straight. Yep, looks fine. I went to put the bike on the stand and yes you guessed it...stand was up. Usually I always have the stand down while doing the oil check but not this time. That was probably because I was more or less on my way out. Luckily with having a top box on the pillion seat, the only damage was a snapped gear change lever.

Breath in, breath out....looked for and finally found spare lever out and after proceeded to change it.

I could have kicked myself in the gonads if I could. Not what I reall need yesterday morning.
