You cannot compare a treadmill to the real world! It's like playing a driving game on the PS2 compared to a proper rally! The psychology is totally different. My gym has a running track & I find that that molly coddles me too much. |
Re: Running/exercise advice
I can do that sort of pace over 1.5miles but there is no way I would be able to carry that on to anywhere near half marathon distance! I am aiming to build up the distances though as time goes on. Best thing is I dont ache the next day (maybe I'm not pushing myself enough :D )

By the way, I bought unbranded running trainers for £8 about six months ago and have to say that they are some of the most comfortable and great performing running shoes that i have ever had! |
Re: Running/exercise advice
I've stopped running on the running machine.
Running on a machine you tend not use your gluts (****) as much as you are not actually propelling yourself, just keeping up with the belt. I was running so much on the machine that I automatically started to run like that. When I started to run (not on a machine) I started getting problems with my knees. According to my physio the "machine" running style (when running not on a machine) was causing my feet to (I forget the proper expression) "toe in" to much putting strain on my knees. |
Re: Running/exercise advice
If I have to use a running machine then I'll select a Gradient setting & use that altering the steepness every few minutes...but I'd prefer to use the spinning bikes.......!
