If english isnt the popular language around there then remember that a picture speaks a thousand words.
I'm imagining a picture like those you osted above witha big red X thru it and another showing a car parked close but not too close to leave you no room and a big green tick on it. Maybe even have a measurement of the distance shoing on the secong pic so peeps understand what you are getting across.

I find most forigners actulay have better road manners than the brits but they just follow the behaviour of those around them if unsure but if you ask nicely,as you have, they happily comply.

Beginning to agree with you. A friend of ours was in your block until a couple of years ago. In the end she felt that as she wasn't personally seeking asylum she didn't need to be completely surrounded by people who were :(

They tell me there are some nice mansions in the Pollokshields area if you don't want to move too far away :D

I would be carefull, its possable that damage has been done to the brake disks if they have been bumped into.

I'd wait till about midnight and if it's still there i'd start the bike up and give it a dam good revving. That's just me though.

Am gonna stop by my local garage tomorrow get them to have look at it make sure everything is ok.

I can do better than I start work very early so leave the house between 6&7am, if I get pulled up all I do is say sorry just warming the engine up:smt077 used to do it all the time when I had the aprilia rs 125! Just sit and rev for about 10 mins at 6.30 on a sunday morning (evil laugh!)

If it's a ragtop, I'd climb in, drop the handbrake and roll it back then put the handbrake back on (I've actually done this to someone who had parked ****ishly before now). If not, you could always smash their window and drop the handbrake that way. ;)

In all seriousness, do you (or a mate who live nearby) know how to do the "spin on the sidestand" trick? Regardless of whether or not it's advisable to do with any regularity, it's ideal for 'emergencies' such as this. I don't know if the lampost is on the wrong side, but if not, you could pivot it round so the front of the bike is facing the pavement, then reverse it out into the road. The angle you bike is at, this should work, even if the tail end is similarly blocked in.

Worthwhile learning how to bounce a car down the road. We had a long drive with a public footpath alongside. People would park on our drive, police were not interested so we would bounce the car out onto the road and police would then arrange removal of the obstruction.

Usually there would then be a conversation along the lines of "Have you seen anyone with my car" "No where did you leave it". "Parked over there", "What on our drive, Good job someone took it before we arranged for autowreckers (Our local and tame car salvage) to collect it."

What most of you seem to have missed is that the bike is illegally parked anyway. I know why Thumper has done it but that doesn't make it any less law breaking. As for asking to leave the lamppost clear so the bike can be chained to it. Words fail me. I'd like to be able to park right outside my house every night, perhaps I could leave a note asking nobody to park up there too.

Do what we've had to do Thumper. Buy a banger with a years road tax and park it by the lamppost, then you'll have easy access.
