Thanks for the post Jim, only issue is I have to place the bike horizontal across the end of my garage.

The gadgets which members have provided links to look easy to use but, as with most things now adays, the prices are hiked.

practice this a bit and i bet you come up with a way to position it easily(tail in first and then push the bike backwards while the stand is still down ??)honestly my m8 puts the bikes all over the place and theres not a lot of space between the bikes in the showroom ,,dont buy anything ,just practice this and youl b spinning all over the place

Two metal pub bar trays with some grease between. Or does that only work with centrestands?

re the spiining on a sidestand thing ,,my m8 works in a bike shop and he moves all the bikes like that ,i asked him to show me and it is really easy i do it all the time now for manouvering ,,i ride in my garage ,spin it round and its facing the right way to ride it out next time ,.there is a knack to itthough ,
stand at the front (obviously) with the bike on the sidestand leaning into /towards you
turn the bars left and grab the throttle with your left hand and clutch side with your right hand and pull the bike off balance(kinda forward and onto your left leg)the back wheel should b up in the air at this point (dont try front wheel at the same time as thats how side stands break) ,and drag the front end round a bit at a time until its round enough ,,this is a piece of **** ,,and dont worry all the time the bike is almost touching your left hip ,if you pull it too far it cant go anywhere cos your in front of it ,.i showed my wife how it was done and she can do it easily at 7.5-8st with very little effort so if she can do it so can you ;)

Easy as that! :) Don't know why Jim turned his bike around here though?! ;)

Got this sussed now - Back the bike into the top corner of the garage and undertake a forward and backwards procedure approx 10 times.

No lifting involved and I get the bike exactly where I want it.

I'm glad it's not just me that has problems manouvering their bike...might have to try the spinning it on the sidestand trick as there is no chance of me lifting it by the grab rail...I'm only ickle (5'2" and about 71/2 - 8 stone).

Manouvering it in a busy car park and looking a prat is my worst nightmare, I'm more worried about that than I am dropping it lol

Lozzo, I look forward to your clip on youtube showing how it's done :)

I'll ask my housemate to video it and then I'll stick it up on youtube. I'm a tiny bloke really, not very tall or hugely built, but I can quite easily spin my old Gixer, Thunderace, Bandit and Daytona round on the sidestands. I've taught a few girls how to do it, and it's given them far more confidence in moving their own bikes around.
