Would also like to point out that a magical Chinese mushroom called Ling Zhi (Ganoderma lucidum) is highly effective against cancer without any side effect. Because it is an alternative herb medicine (herb classification), you'll not hear that from the GPs. Dispite all the medical evidance in the far east and at the US, the most potent Ganoderma lucidum available can only be labelled food supplement which can not state its medical usage as a result of red tapes surranding the drug, drug trail etc.

Do a search on the net, tell your friend about it, and if you want more information on where you can get those mushroom pills, PM me.

If this was that effective then one of the major drugs companies would have extracted the active ingredient and be selling it by now, they could make HUGE piles of cash on that one, and that, after all is the number one product of drugs companies, the pills/cures are just an interesting by-product.

I may be wrong in the above, and it MAY be a wonder drug, but if people are talking about it on motorbike forums, well I guarantee that messers Glaxo,Smith-Klyne and Beecham have also heard of it.

Its not a wonder drug, but highly effective at early stages of cancer. It is often used alongside with conventional cancer treatment in Far east countries such as Japan, China, Korea. I am not an expert on this, just aware of this mushroom. A search on the google should reveal what it can do pretty sharpish.

Sorry to hear this Tara. :-( I wish her all the very best of luck. Just to give her a bit of inspiration, my sister survived ovarian cancer 17 years ago (officially cured now :) ) so there is always hope.

All my "repro" bits have actually gone now (full hysterectomy - sorry if thats too much info folks ;) ) but before that I always went for my tests, so although thats one less worry, Im afraid that along with hot flushes  , Im soon coming to the Mamogram age! :-(

they probably wouldn't be able to make loads of cash from it as they wouldn't be able to patent it, so possibly not worth their while researching it

Have you seen some of the patents going around???

They would find a way - something to do with the purification process would do quite nicely...

Also, they could do with the good press that this kind of thing would bring - think of the headlines on the BBC news when its announced that there is a new drug in the war against cancer that works, and you dont have to take the NHS to court to get.........

Cool :)

Kind of mine at the moment too - well debunking some of the Microsoft Patent claims for the EU :)

Drug Patents are evil tho, people dying because some company wants to make huge profits.......

i don't do pharmaceutical stuff so that's ok.

are you trying to show that some EP patents aren't valid or what? i'm not really up-to-date with the latest case law etc on computer prog stuff.

Basically proving prior art.

They claimed over 200 innovations/patents in WinXP - we found 1 - still under discussion tho.

Thats as much as I can say without breaching NDAs tho (its already been in the press :P)

Getting paid to support Open-Source. Can't get much better.

Back to the topic, sincerely hope that she pulls though what will inevitably be a very tough time for her.

Keep us posted with progress, and as others have said, nothing like this should ever be deemed inappropriate. If even a passing comment will potentially save a life, it's worth it.
