Hi,

I’m new to the forum but not new to biking. I stumbled over your forum while searching for something. Looks like an interesting place. Seems like you have the standard share of resident oracles and knowledge masters. I will enjoy reading their words of wisdom and contributing a few of my own.

So a couple of questions

1, What’s the average biking experience on here? ( I expect that most active users will be new to biking).

2, Are the majority wimps or do they ride all year round?

3, Do you all ride SV’s ( since I don’t) or is more of a general forum?

Still, just a little about me.

I’ve been riding (nearly every day) for 20 years or so. Had two many bikes to remember. Never had them serviced and I do all my tooling myself. Sorry if I offend, but most dealers are just out to take your money and just leave your pride and joy with some YTS yob to wreck.

I’ve ridden in Cities (including 10 years in London), the country (nice fast twisty roads) and in many other countries. I’ve done the wreckless youngster bit and gone mad on race tracks and track days. I’m now in my clam stage. I like the occasional blast and can old my own against many a younger rider, but most of my bike time is spent commuting where speed can truly kill. Still I always enjoy watching the people go nowhere in their cages….

Still enough, I have important work to do. Oh and Hello.

Tempest.

Hello and welcome Tempest

1) I passed my test last August and got the bike a week later. Have done less than 1500 miles since then so I'm a total novice

2) I s'pose I'm a wimp then

3) yes and its yellow- best colour EVER

Now now, from last weekend, I can verify that you not only chose the wrong colour, but the wrong shape too!!

As for anyone who's said they're a novice, there's only really one way you can go from there. ;)

Hello there new person, welcome to our happy family. If you want to check out how hard the novices are in here look at the vids in the ARo7 section, from this weekend. We ride in rain, rain, terrorise the locals on mass, kill deers and deafen you!! Nah only kidding, but some truth there somewhere.
There are a wonderful bunch of guys and gals in here, all ages, all abilities, all bikes, not just Sv's. Welcome :p

When I was younger I rode fast, and crashed lots. Now I'm older I ride much faster and crash less. Experience counts for everything.

29 years in the saddle, starting with a Fizzy on my 16th birthday, moved up to an RD250 for my 17th birthday and passed my test 5 days later. Since then I've been an almost daily rider with only 2 days without a bike in all that time (when they were stolen from me).

Like you I've ridden all over the place all year round - all over Europe, USA/Canada, Australia, India (briefly), and in the middle east. I've never raced because I was never good enough to win, and it'd pee me off if I couldn't. Instead I support a winning club racer in Powerbikes by spannering his bike for him. In the past I did the same thing for an endurance team. There's no car outside my front door, and that's the way I'd like it to stay.

welcome to the madhouse (cant believe no one has said it yet)

I class myself as a novice even though I have been riding for 6 years. have done a few track days but im a slow rider. passed my iam test which really helped with my riding. have a new bike (raptor 1000) now and have gone back to scratch again, trying to get used to it.

Welcome ... I'm new here myself actually.

1. Been riding since October 2006 - definitely a novice!
2. I have been riding all weathers ... but need to get some "proper" waterproofs for the summer  LOL
3. Burnt copper K3 pointy (with battle scars)

Just getting to know ppl here on the forum, but seem a very friendly and helpful bunch :)
