Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
It's a mod to trick the bike to think t's in higher gear so it can get better fueling and smoother ride. Aparently 2nd and 3rd gear are a bit restricted or something(can't remember if it's for emmision or sound reasons)

a TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator) on an SV650 is a device that robs you of your money. it has no real benefit whatsoever apart from robbing you of your money.
oohhh and bs8c, could you please enlighten us as to what adjustment you have made to the STV's |
Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
I losen the bolts, plugged the multimeter and turned the sensor a bit to get the proper readings(i believe closed was 0.54 and full open was 4.something ohms). I also checked the voltage coming to the stvs and it was 5.0 volts.

Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
Well i read the manual...and there is a certain resistance on the stvs when open and closed. So if you turn the sensor a bit the resistance changes. I got it as close as i could(0.75 closed) and that along with the tps...the bike feels a lot better, specialy when idling.

Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
for a moment there i thought you had messed with the linkage screws.
did you set the TPS via the guide on here or by the workshop manual values? |
Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
Mostly youtube videos. Specialy one about tl1000. Older video but the guy explains realy good

Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
much better setting it via our guide http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=55459
smooths the throttle response. |
Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
Oh, i've read that too. Basicly the same. Except the "diagnostic tool" :)

Re: FI light comes on with high sustained speed?
yes apart from the set to 1400rpm. i do it a bit different and set to just off throttle which is basically the second the bike starts revving past tickover the TPS is on and its been fantastic and tested for around 20,000+ miles use so i know it works and does no harm.
how i do it is turn the TPS while the bike is warmed up so the line 'just' moves at tickover then tighten so when i tighten it the line moves to the middle. so even looking at the throttle gives an instant response rather than setting 1400rpm. this gives much less jerk and is smooth as butter round mini roundabouts and such. |
