Yes you have learned that contrary to some of the limp wristed ramblings on other sites 1000cc bikes are not overkill on the road and in fact I would say are better more usuable road bikes than 600's.

They handle well too don't they? A more recent model would feel even smaller and more nimble.

Btw I would have said NO don't ride it as it never pays to ride or drive anything that is actually faster than what you can actually own for yourself (for whatever reason).

I've not ridden a GSXR Thou, but thats pretty much how my 750 feels IMHO. Also I find it quite docile to and I dont find it intimidating at all.

so what your saying is that if you have some self control then for example a GSXR 1000 would be mch more stable and a better ride as its more focused on the road? but could get you into trouble if you go beyond your limits with it?

That applies to any bike though. I've ridden past my limits on the SV and nearly come a cropper. I dont think what type of bike you're on makes a lot of difference if you push yourself to hard you will fall off at some point.

I agree - I think that you just have to respect everything for what it is.

When I first got on the SV I feared it a bit, but equally respected it and actually my feelings towards it are the same except I fear it less now, I still respect it.

I applied the same principle to the R1 and could see how easy it would be to get into trouble, but once you can see that you have found your respect and can ride it to your ability.

The braking is something else though - like hitting a wall!

So what about the GSXR 600 then?

also what is the SV going to feel like on the way home?

Just get a test ride for yourself, we can talk forever, but you're only really going to know properly when you get on and ride one!

Slow...

Having ridden a GSXR-600 and my own GSXR-750 then I'd go for the 750 everytime. More torque, more power and more responsive at lower RPM as you'd expect.

........and are they commuteable? My bike is really just that a commuter but if a GSXR is a commuter too then, I might sell one of the kids!

Yep I commute on mine. TBH I find it more comfortable than the SV is. The seats better, the riding position is better to for me. I get less buffet on the GSXR with the standard screen than I get on the SV with a double bubble on it.

Half the the reason for the comfort is because the suspension is better it copes better with the bumpy roads / poor road surface so the rides more comfortable so its less tiring to ride.
