well having a general scout round for crud will improve things i suspect, although it may not stop the whining. When was the last time it had an oil change and filter BTW?

edit... looked at your thread, you've done that already..doh. Whilst your looking ubder the cover, you may want to look at the front sprocket nut, to see if its worked its way loose. Sometimes this can cause a bit of a prob

Yeah checked that. Think its gonna be a case of live with it or spend a fortune to give it to a garage. Did you find out what was wrong with yours

That's really annoying. Didn't spot anything in the cam covers, so I'm not sure, time for further investigation if it gets louder IMO

you notice it more when your in traffic, using the clutch more,
I had a listen down the screwdriver today, but all I heard was a load of whirring noise, but now I know what an engine sounds like inside

so has it returned the same or is there any improvement. Nightmare. do you still get it on idle tickover.

yeah, alls fine, shes a bit rough cause she really needs her carbs balancing, had to twiddle a bit with the idle screw other day, but thats all.

Apart from this bloody whining she pulls like a train, shes always whistled like a canary anyway, but this is louder than usual. Still creeping a bit on the clutch as well. I've heard that much of it now I don't knowe if it does it in neutral, pretty sure it does, its more noticeable on slow cutch control through traffic TBH

mine certainly doesn't whistle. 30mph in 3rd kinda sounds like wat i imagine an invalid scooter to sound like if it could go that fast

Whining noise? Probably just the gear box and everything. I have a whiny noise, which i know is the gear box. SV's make some funny noises, all of which scare everyone - but when its still there after a year of riding and the bike hasnt gone bang, you know its normal :D
