To do a quick, safe, compact U-turn...

1. Grab a handful of front barke
2. Stand up off the seat
3. Raise the revs to peak torque and let the clutch out carefully
4. Once the back's spinning, walk sideways, pirouetting around the front wheel.
5. Once facing the right way, let go of the front brake, dump the clutch.

At this point you *may* want to try a dab of rear brake.

This of course is only for beginners. True professionals also grab a handful of front brake, but apply sufficient to raise the rear wheel approximately three feet in the air before gently applying some lock in the desired direction. As the machine gracefully turns around the front wheel they smoothly pull in the clutch and engage first gear. Once pointing in the desired direction release the front brake, return the rear wheel to the ground whilst applying sufficient throttle and clutch to elevate the front to a respectful altitude and ride merrily away waving waving to the assembled audience....or not.

Find an empty car park, and practice.
Ever decreasing circles till you're on the lock stop virtually all the way round.
Figures of 8.

Nothing to hit, no traffic to worry about, lines to use as road edges. Mind them if it's wet though.

Don't worry about putting a foot down either, you've already passed your test. Practice enough and you won't have to, though.
