Get a Merkur de razor and some decent shave cream or soap (try Geo F. Trumper or Evelyn & Crabtree). It takes a bit of getting use to but it's much better than the 110 blade latest vibrating Gillette thing.

Also, new blades cost about 3p each, so you save money in the long run. :D

Just noticed, you're complaining about paying out for razor blades when you're wanting to get a Tornado?!?!?!?! LOL!

years with a beard and trimmed it as and when required.

I now shave as and when told to. I hate doing it.

Ironic but understandable that replacement blades are reputed to be the most nicked item in British supermarkets. I know my local asda puts them in boxes designed to set off the door alarms

Don't worry about people telling you you have sensitive skin, I was told this for years and tried every gel / cream/ balm and nothing stopped the sore rash after shaving.

One day in work i was serving a dermatologist and explained the problem to her, she looked at my neck and said the opposite was true, i had very strong flexible skin which trapped the hairs underneath and caused irritation.

She recommended a product for razor burn in woman's bikini areas by a company called Skin Doctors which i had to order online from Amazon. When it arrived i was worried that it was Salicylic Acid and smelt like nail polish remover. You shave as normal and afterward you put some on a cotton pad and apply to the sensitive area (my neck around the collar) it hurts like hell, really stingy but it only lasts a few seconds. Turns out it burns off the top layer of skin encouraging fresh growth and stopping the hairs getting trapped underneath. After a few days the rash was completely healed and i now use it every 2 or 3 days to maintain it. Still on the first bottle after 6months so dont panic at the price but i was willing to try anything at the time.

worked for me!!!

I'm deffo going to invest in a Merkur razor as soon as I have some spare cash. Blades cost next to nothing, and a better shave to boot. With The Mach VIII etc. you are paying for their (huge) marketing budget.
