They don't check yet, but at some point between New Year 2009 and new year 2010, the USA, UK and most major european and world ports will have a central criminal records database so when your passport is swiped, the system will show any convictions. Most european coiuntries won't care, but the US will. You can go over there on holiday if you have convictions that do not involve you being a danger to other persons, but you would have to have an interview at the American Embassy at least 9 months before you wanted to travel and then it is up to them to determine whether or not they will let you in.

Still Dappa D, You're not going anyway. I think the whole "USA" thing came in because you used the word "states" in your post....lol.
You should be fine, but if you are ever being CRB checked and have anything on your record or think there might be something on your record, you need to tell your potential employer first so that they can develop trust in you and not get any suprises.

It's amazing how people will overlook past discrepancies when you are honest with them!
