As it happens more often you can prepare yourself for it i think. First trackday was like that. After first unexpected peg down and re-adjusting lean angles, next time you just wait for the scrape then keep leaning into the corner and looking to the exit.

i'm sure i read a thread on here about scrubbing in tyres and how even though lots of people believe in it that you didn't have to do it nowadays due to tyre construction and materials all they needed was heat putting into the tyre mainly through acceleration and braking to burn off excess oils then they would be fine?, thoughts anybody.

Ouch

Beware for friday binky I am a slow rider, this was on roads I know very well. 'What's round the corner?' is a massive killer of my speed.

Don't worry. We'll all reiterate not to go faster that you feel comfortable even if you lose sight of the bike infront. We can all give you some advice too. I don't mind following you for a bit if you don't feel too patronised. G and Carty are both very good riders who can offer advice too.

No i definately believe in scrubbing in, even with modern tyres. You can really feel a bit of extra slidiness for the first few hundred miles on a new tyre. You will know when to push hard. I don't think quickly getting heat into them will suddenly make a new tyre have loads of grip, they'll still be slippy (ish)

HTH I'd just take it easy no matter what.

Must add a disclaimer. Don't expect to be faster than anything on the planet after riding with us. I'm certainly no Rossi.

Serious question, would a burnout or two help? Or is that as silly as it sounds...

sillier :P
If the heat thing works aswell as genuine use then yeah it might remove the slippery **** but it'll wreck your nice new tyre lol.

Oh i see...
I should really consider getting new tyres for my cg, but ill be selling it soon so the motive isnt really there. The front one must surely be just below 1mm or borderline acceptable. Thats 10k miles on the clock without tyres being changed AFAIK.
