Re: My fuel warning light is lying!!
i'v noticed that even when the petrol looks like its on the brim its not... i just keep squirting till the top let it settle then add more and repeat till it wont settle any more... there is a huge air gap in the tanks... i usually squeeze 2ltr in doing this

I've found the same.

Re: My fuel warning light is lying!!
I hope this clears things up a little.
K3 & K4 will not flash first, they have the single stage warning only (ie, solid). K5+ has dual stage. Initially these will start to think about flashing at about 5L. By that, I mean they'll flash a little, then appear to forget what they were doing, so stop. A bit futher down the road, you'll get a few more flashes. This is due to fuel sloshing around in the tank. The K5+ (with dual stage) go to a solid light with 2L left in the tank. The tank also has two air pockets (at the front, just behind the headstock, one on either side of the tank) to allow for fuel expansion. For example, fill it to the brim when it's cold outside, then wait until lunch time, the fuel will expand a little. I'm not 100% sure on the size of these air pockets, but IIRC, they're around 1.5L ish total. When you fill the tank, the fuel in there, whilst the bike is upright prevents the air pockets being filled. The tank capacity is 17L, minus these air pockets gives you around 15.5L. It's a marketing ploy to "forget" that you cannot fill the air pockets on a fuel tank. :) As for fuel efficiency, this depends entirely on how agressive you are with the throttle. I can empty a tank in 90 miles, but equally on the same bike I've had 160miles to a tank. |
Re: My fuel warning light is lying!!
So you should fill your bike in the morning and then wait till it warms up a bit, then top it up? Park at a petrol station all days lul.

For the best value for money, fill up at say, 6am, ride home & park up, then go for a run about 11am & use the full tank. |
