I'm a strong believer that the name that you give your kids will influence their personality. Don't call your kid Quentin or Roderick, he won't thank you for it in later life. I'd go for something fairly traditional and a name that can easily be shortened. Johnathon, David, Michael, Christopher, Stephen etc. If you want some thing unusual, I'd keep it for the middle name.

Ryan- hear way too many chavvy teenagers shouting that round here, defo on the chav list.
Thomas- the tank- but Tom is cool for short
Michael- bit old fashioned- Micks an old blokes name
Sam- ok-but you call a dog that.

My sons called Dylan Connor. Dylan was a very uncommon name seven years ago, but now every horrid tart calls their kid that:( People always think I named him after Bob, or Thomas, but no the magic roundabout:cool:
