Trying to worm your way out of it in that respect is a futile exercise. You'll waste your own time, the filths' time and ultimately the courts time. If you rock up to court after ****ing them about for the past few months the magistrate will be aware of this (most likely) in the police report and is likely to take a seriously negative view..

If the plate was incorrect then odds are it would be a car shown in DVLA database. If by some miraculous chance it was someone else's fireblade, they would have written back saying I wasn't anywhere near that spot on that date.
If its a cloned plate, then (just for the sake of it) hovis would have needed to respond ASAP saying not my bike guv and report it as a cloned plate to the police. Police/SCP would then ask for photos of the bike to compare to the one they have and decide whether to believe you at that point.

If you are lucky enough to have someone in your household who can ride your bike there is a way you can get off with this... Does anyone else you know ride your bike?

I would strongly advise against doing this! It amounts to Perverting the Course of Justice which is a fair more serious offence to add onto a bog standard speeding offence!

Hovis. If you get the dreaded letter then do not totally despair. The Law, despite many people misconceptions is suprisingly fair. The law regards you as innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt whether that be by you returning confirmation you were indeed in excess of the notified speed limit or choosing to attend court to provide your account of events.

If you do attend court you can apply for the evidence against you beforehand or you can recieve it on the date and analyse it then. Either way get a solicitor or other legal professional advice to represent you. Going into court thinking that you are the bees-knees due to the fact you have 'read something on an internet forum' will get you tripped up! The magistrates see this daily and dont take kindly to it!

Feel free to PM me if you do get the letter!

Cheers

It is not perverting the course of justice if the officer involved in the investigation can not prove "beyond resonable doubt" that is was you riding the bike at the time of the incident

Hovis - stick the details up on Pepipoo and see what advice you get over there mate, there are some actual legal types on there (no offence to the Eds & co on here!) rather than the usual armchair lawyers on here...

Ok fair enough! I won't enter into an argument on the issue. If its a course of action that is entered then it is perverting the course of justice period! Can it be proven....Absolutely!!!!

So if you believe that a criminal record and quite possibly a custodial sentence is worth it then crack on!

Not a rant you understand just some friendly advice...

Saying that your vehicle was being driven by someone at the time of the offence, but, being unsure who that person was never will lead to or has anything to do with perverting the course of justice.

I won't argue about this as I know a Police Officer very well and he advices me on such issues.

The officer at the time of the incident can not prove "beyond resonable doubt" that it was you riding/driving the vehicle in question if he was sat in a van.

It is down to the police to prove you are guilty.
