Maybe im too used to polite words been spoken in a condecending manor. Like when the misses find a packet of cigs in my jacket pocket and asks "do you mind explaining these hmmmmm?" lol

Red if you genuinly are just that polite then no I dont mind explaining. The statement of 60quid and 3 points came from my noggin' cos I thought thats what police gave out for it. I'll wind my own neck in instead.

Certainly is!

I have always issued £60 Fixed penalty notices for failing to display!!

And yeah, numberplate has also now gone up to a £60 non endorsable!

To be honest, you have to ask why in this day and age you even need to penalise a failure to display. A 20 second check against the PNC will verify whether tax has been paid or not. Prosecute those who have no tax, as likely not to have an MOT or insurance to boot.

The same with failing to produce documents. I once got a producer, got home and could not find my licence. I was actually taken to court and fined for it. Yet on the summons it actually said "on further investigation, it was established Mr Wilkinson did hold a full licence for the class of vehicle he was driving". Having established I could not find my licence. I had the same day applied for a duplicate. The prosecution served no purpose and probable cost more than the fine to process.

Unfortuntaley, PNC is not always updated correctly and as it has already been stated on this thread, vehicle excise licences are shown to be held until they are 3 months out of date.
