Dog job is now and I think I am just gonna try and see how far I get. Gonna sit my Insp down later and talk to him and see if he will support me, after all if I dont get the job I gotta remain on his shift.

He got me the advanced course and I only applied a month ago. I see it good that I will be on my shift and supporting his shift so I hope he will not be too annoyed :)

GG - I never leave Sam long, my Mum is wonderful and has him over night when I am on shift, in 10 mins I will be taking him for tonight :) without her I would have had to give him up. He gets double love and has in effect 2 homes.

All the issues of having 2 dogs is my main priority, I would not make Samson unhappy by having a work dog I would rather leave it until the next opportunity arose than make Samson unhappy ........ he my baby at end of the day and work is just work !

Hun, just the fact that you're thinking about it this much means you're going to make the right decision in the end. It doesn't matter how many dogs you get, your dog will be your baby. No dog will ever quite be the same to you as the first dog you get for yourself. I've had dogs as a child and loved them all so much, but when I got Stig, that was it. He's my baby. I don't hate myself for saying now that he is my favourite. Right or wrong, he is. He gets treated like the other dogs and I love them all so much, but Stig is my little baby and he'll forever be the best looking, most amazing dog in the world to me :-)

So why are you not on every trackday that comes up making sure you can rag the living tits off any bike thrown your way?

He may be your babby, but dogs can be happy at #3 in the pecking order as well as at #2.

hi shell....to be honest i think what ever u choose you will regret not choosing the other one..(rock and hard place eh)

what is your initial gut reaction?

If you cant decide just flip a coin and let fate do it for ya!

It sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I would imagine the killing machine would be able to keep samson in his place. If they really did not get on would your mum not be able to adopt samson, that way he is kept in the family and you would still get to see him but without shoving his nose out of place. Life is too short to say what if, go for it, if its meant to be then it will work out, if not then nothing lost. good luck

Having looked into the possibility of becoming a rozzer, I know that you are only allowed to apply in one county at any one time to join, so can you even apply for two positions if both became available at the same time?

A friend used to be in traffic division, cars and bikes. He is now a dog handler and much prefers it to traffic.

Well my decision was made harder last night - after a completely mental night that started at 23.00 and stopped at 08.30 this morning one tired and hungry Shell decided to speak with the Inspector whilst writing up about the mad man with hammer I just locked up.

Inps "DOG HANDLER WAS A GREAT HELP TONIGHT WASNT SHE, WHAT WOULD WE HAVE DONE WITHOUT HER"

Shell "TALKING OF DOG HANDLERS BOSS, I AM THINKING OF APPLYING FOR THE OPEN VANACY BUT WANTED TO SPEAK WITH YOU FIRST"

Insp "OH..... NO ADVANCED COURSE FOR YOU THEN"

Shell "OH WOULD I LOOSE THAT IF I APPLIED?

Insp "THERE WILL BE SOMEONE ALREADY EAR MARKED FOR THAT JOB, HAVE YOU DONE A DAY WITH THE DOG HANDLER IN REST DAYS?"

Shell "NO"

Inps "THERE YA GO THEN, HAVE YOU BEEN INVITED TO APPLY"

Shell " NO ? <silence>...... OH OK "

:(

in other words I maybe applying for a job that is alredy filled but they are advertising it as they have to and if I apply I loose my driving course

:( Not a happy Shell today .... looks like I won't be applying

 Typical Shell. Heard it all before. If I were you, I wouldn't bother applying as the other person will get the job and you will lose out on the opportunity to do your driving.

They are :toss: at timees! Face fits....

Awww Shell, that sucks. Good job you chatted with your insp though! Well, if nothing else, you can make the most of the time between now and the driving course getting out on the bike!!!

So annoyed, bust a gut last night too and got all the info from the dog handler that persuaded me to do it. Kennel paid for for outside, boarding kennels paid for, money towards cage for car etc etc and then I enquire further ! Stinks :(

Well from 19 Oct I on 4 weeks of Mon- Fri days and weekends off so I may get to do an org thing or two on one of the Saturdays if I not too shattered. And I will be driving all over the place, Wales and stuff so suppose I will enjoy.

And YC made me think, why do I not get on some trackdays so get me over my fears so when a bike job does come up I will be able to do the advanced biking easily :) lack of money but sure I can save up :)

Oh well the shine is off the advanced course a little, at least I have done an attachment on bike team and the Sgt on there was my old SGt and very good friend ... and he is a hottie :)

I don't get any courses...my current Insp doesn't like me so I get screwed a bit. Even though i have great detection figures (I don't like traffic work).
