I turn it off when i'm not in no standby mode for me!

It does save a pretty penny indeed!

Night units used 1350 kWh at 5.71p

so we have got 494w x 1h x 17p / 1000 = 0.08398 = 8p
8 hours a day / 30 days in a month = 240 hours
240 hours x 8p = £19.20

and that's not including standby power it uses

and that's not including the 27.95p rate either

You can't quote an average consumption of 300W & then calculate at peak usage ;)

You'll need to start only using it Midnight to 7am

Sorry i should of worded that better. ,average as in watching Standard definition which doesn't use as much processing power is around 300w But 720/1080p Gaming will take it up to its peak and this is what I do most becuase TV is $hit3 lol .

phosphorus trailing is caused by fast moving actions combined with high contrast.
its more prone on brand new sets but is really rare and if you do get this issue it does usually settle after a good few hours use. It is advisable that your run you new set on low settings for the first 200 hours to break in the cells gently, This will should eliminate phosphorus trailing if you are geting any and minimize image retention.(you can check how long your set has been on in the service menu).
I have never experienced this problem on any of my sets but i do allways run them in on low as I said above.
I bet thats a brand new set and that idiot has got it set on 100% contrast i would send it back if it didnt clear up when the contrast is lowered and the set has been run in for at least 100 hours.
You should calibrate you plasma for best results there are lots of guides out there I have never used a plasma with out the box settings they are always maxed out and make the set look crap.
contrast on 100 is stupid full stop just makes the picture look Poor.

Yea sorry hindle i just noticed the fool has contrast maxed (something my dad always told me never to do (and hes as technical as a toilet brush)).

Links to a guide you'd recommend perhaps hindle?? I treat my electronics well and if theres a guide i could follow to improve performance etc that would be grand!

Reading reviews this seems to be a good plasma to get and i can keep my LCD one elsewhere. Funny i never thought panasonic did good TV's. shows what i know eh.

What happened to Sony?
Where does it come in the ratings?

Sony quit selling plasmas back in 2005/06.
they do make good LCD's sets out of the LCD Range but they are gay for stopping plasma.
Plasma are not very profitable they cost alot to make and the profit is marginal that's why pioneer and Sony stopped producing them.

Sad :(

Still getting good reviews all over only which? seem to be miffed by this TV, not impressed with its SD perfomance. Fortunatley i couldnt give a **** about the SD performance, its HD perfomance gets 4/5 stars :P.

They seem to prefer LCD TV's and all, which is somewhat against the grain for some reviews i'm reading.

LED LCD seems the future but the TV sets are mega expensive at this stage and only take LCD's to the colour levels and black levels of a plasma. I continue on my search but i've yet to find a LCD thats the same price as the plasma above of the same quality!
