Can someone explain to me how this hazard perception test works?

The stuff I'm reading from candidates in threads like this seems to be different to what instructors are saying you need to do to pass, so can someone fill in those of us who haven't taken the test on the sort of scenarios you see?

you see a short clip and at any time you see a hazard you click. Then you get scored between 1-5, 5 being the highest depending on how quick you saw the selected one

Welll done. Easy!

Ollie, thing is as above, but you do get to watch a vid before doing the hazard perception anyway of what you are are expected to do, so if you have a brain its not hard to work out. The clips are a bit grainy, and they are pretty slow, so its more a concentration to keep up with the naff filming than anything!

I was thinking more about the clips you see - it appears that people are clicking too early, so I'm wondering what might make people think the hazard is present when it isn't fully developed yet (in the eyes of the examiner)

Re: Theory Test on Friday.

Sometimes its because in the example clip they say
'see the pedestrian on the left, or see the dog' etc they circle what you should be looking at, so, naturally when you are watching the real one, they have alsorts of things that could be a potential hazard, driveway, person walking...and they automatically think...ooo hazard,,,clicky, but its not the hazard at all!
Thats how I see it being the problem, but then I don't seem to have had that issue with over clicking.
